Use a Business Christmas Card As Tool To Say ‘You Are Valued by Us’

Chucky Anderson

A business Christmas card is one of the best ways to build a good rapport with your clients and your business partners. All you have to do is follow some basic rules:

  • Organize the mailing list as early as first week of November. Ensure that you know how you would like them to be addressed on the card, say would you like it to read ‘My dear Sandra’, or ‘Dear Ms Sandra’. These are small details, but paying attention to these details can make all the difference.

  • Buy good quality cards – do not pinch pennies here. Always buy the best quality available in your budget range. This actually shows that you value the recipient – hence it is important that the card looks as good as you would like the recipient to feel.

  • Update the list every week adding to it all the people that you would want to greet during Christmas. The updating should be done regularly and not wait until the last moment to remember all those who are important to you.

  • Always address and sign the cards personally – or if you do not have the time, ask someone to write the name and you only sign them. Your clients should feel that the card was written specially with them in mind so you should take time to write a tiny message and sign the card by hand.

  • Have the address on the envelope handwritten – if you can do it yourself, it is great. If not, have someone else write the addresses, but never send computerized labels on envelopes of Christmas card. It shows terrible bad taste because it shows that the cards have been mass mailed.

  • Always mail the Christmas card to the home address – this is a wish for your client or business partner family as well. One never addresses the spouse on the office address; this can be done only when both husband and wife work in that office/ organization.

  • Always use the titles when sending a greeting – hence do not have the envelope read Richard and Giny Gere; it should ready Mr and Mrs Richard Gere. A little slip here or there would insult the recipient and instead of strengthening the relationship it might break it off.

  • Be careful to send appropriate greetings – if your client belongs to Muslim religion and you send a “Merry Christmas” greeting it may look inappropriate and insensitive on your part. When not sure, use the “Best wishes for the Season” greeting.

  • Send your cards before the Christmas rush sets in – ensure that you avoid the Christmas rush by sending the cards latest by the first week of December. In this way, you will be remembered since you will be among the first who sends wishes.

After you finish sit back and enjoy your growing popularity!
