Christmas Tree Lights: Take Care in Decorating Your Tree
Chucky Anderson
Whenever Christmas time comes around and people begin to erect their Christmas trees in their living rooms, they undoubtedly want to decorate those trees. After all, a bare tree does nothing for bringing out Christmas spirit. To decorate their trees, most people go with Christmas tree lights. Christmas tree lights are cheap, easy to use and last a long time. However, most people don’t understand that hanging Christmas tree lights can be dangerous. With special care, however, Christmas tree lights can bring out the best in any Christmas tree. Take Special Care When Hanging Lights When hanging Christmas tree lights, you should take special care where you hang the lights. You’ll want to hang them around the tree in a spiral formation, starting from the bottom to the top. Start by positioning the plug next to the electrical socket. Do not plug it in at this time, however. Christmas tree lights can get hot and you don’t want to burn yourself while you’re trying to hang them. Next, start circling the string of Christmas tree lights around the tree, from the bottom all the way to the top. When you’re finished, plug it in. If the Christmas tree lights don’t work, check your connection and check to make sure that all the lights are out. Sometimes, if one light is out, it will make all the lights go out. Next, you’ll want to make sure that the electrical cord is nowhere near water. Real Christmas trees need to be kept in water to keep them healthy. Keeping the cord next to this water can be a great way to spend Christmas day in the Emergency Room. It is also a good idea to keep the electrical cord higher on the tree than the bottom branch. That way you can ensure that your pets don’t get a hold of it. If one of your pets manages to break the plastic around the actual wires in the cord, it could seriously injure or kill them. For this reason, you’ll want to make sure the wires are far out of their reach. When care is taken, and proper precautions are followed, Christmas tree lights can be a great way to bring out that Christmas spirit. You shouldn’t have to worry about the decorations in your home causing a problem. You should be able to enjoy yourself and your family’s company. That, after all, is what Christmas time is all about.
