Christmas Tree Decoration: An Important Part of the Holiday
Chucky Anderson
For many families, and especially the kids, one the highlights of Christmas is starting on the Christmas tree decoration. Once you have chosen that perfect Christmas tree, you will have to decide just how you want to decorate it and with what. Many families have Christmas tree decorations that have been handed down for generations. These are the ornaments that go up high on the tree so little hands can’t grab them and break them! Christmas Tree Decoration Step By Step The first step to decorating your Christmas tree is of course, to put it in a stand. There are a variety of stands on the market that can accommodate just about any size of tree. Of course if you have an artificial tree, it will have come with a stand when you bought it. Stringing the lights on the Christmas tree is generally done before you put any ornaments on. This way, the twinkling lights can be in the background and add a soft glow to your collection of ornaments. After the lights come the ornaments. Ornaments come in many shapes, sizes, and materials. You can buy retro looking ornaments, just like the ones from the 1950s, plastic ornaments or whatever strikes your fancy. Of course, if you have children or pets, always remember to put the fragile ornaments up towards the top of the tree since they can be just too tempting for little hands or paws. Eventually, you will want to put your tree topper on. Traditional tree toppers are usually stars or angels. However, you can find a wide variety of tree toppers. Glass, plastic or wire are usually the choices of materials for this biggest ornament. Finally, if you are so inclined, icicles, beads or traditional tinsel garland can be put on the branches. These can add that final sparkling touch to your tree that can bring the variety of ornaments and lights on your tree together. What type of garland you choose will usually depend on personal preference, but you will probably also have to take into consideration the composition of your ornaments and whether little kids or pets are likely to grab hold of it. Christmas tree decoration is an activity the whole family can be involved with. For kids and often the rest of the family, this is the beginning of the holiday season and a visual reminder that Christmas is just around the corner!
